In early January of 2002, the Boulder Valley School District undertook a challenging task: it would hold a number of community meetings, sampling its clientele in order to form a comprehensive picture of the ideal BVSD graduate. The project was named "Visioning the New Century Graduate," and it called on the people of Boulder Valley and surrounding locales to envision the knowledge, skills and personal characteristics that would prepare their students for the challenges they would face as adults.
This report presents the vision gleaned from a kickoff meeting and twelve regional meetings, including four meetings addressed to very specific groups: the Spanish-speaking population, the Hmong population, and the student population. All told, over 400 people participated in these meetings.
