Dr. Christopher King became superintendent of Boulder Valley School District on July 1, 2007. King’s academic credentials include a B.A. in English, an M.A. in Journalism and Mass Communications, and a Ph.D. in Educational Leadership.
A native of Montrose, Colorado, King began his educational career in 1985 as an English and journalism teacher at Broomfield High School. For the next 12 years, he worked in capacities ranging from wrestling coach to interim principal in various schools in Colorado and Georgia. King rejoined BVSD in 1997 as principal of Boulder High School, became assistant superintendent in 2001, and then was named deputy superintendent in 2005.
Chris King and his wife, Kelley King, part-time principal of both Jamestown and Gold Hill elementary schools, live with their two children in the district.
